Library

Banneker believes that children who love to read become lifelong learners. The Banneker Library begins this journey in Pre-K with picture books and continues in upper grades, offering classics and modern titles. It supports the school’s mission to prepare every student to be proficient readers for the global world.

Interactive Digital Studio

The Digital Learning Studio (DLS) is the epicenter of innovation and education at Benjamin Banneker, serving the entire school community. Its main goal is to cultivate a deep understanding of engineering design concepts. The DLS provides students with 1-2 weekly sessions that are both enriching and empowering.

Art

Banneker students engage with a wide spectrum of visual arts, spanning from drawing to 3D design. Art is a cornerstone of the Banneker philosophy, and we are committed to incorporating the “A” for art into our robust STEAM curriculum. Students discover art through hands-on projects that seamlessly integrate with ELA, math, science, and social studies.

Music

Several Banneker teachers and staff are passionate musicians who share their love for music with students. Beyond formal, age-appropriate music education, students have the opportunity to join the Banneker band, where they can also attend Boston Symphony visits throughout the year. Music is celebrated as an integral part of the diverse cultures within our school.

C.A.R.E.

At BBCPS, we believe in 4 core values :

Our students strive each and every day to embody these 4 core values.  At the end of each month, 4 students are nominated by their classroom teachers to receive a CARE Award.  Awardees have their photos displayed on the tvs in the hallways and celebrated in a variety of ways in their individual classrooms.
